Islam: The Dominant Religion in Bangladesh

A Snapshot of Religious Diversity

Bangladesh is a nation where diverse religious beliefs coexist. While Islam holds the primary position, there are also adherents of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity.

Islam: The Majority Faith

Embraced by a vast majority of Bangladeshis (89.1%), Islam forms the cornerstone of the country's religious landscape. Its presence in Bangladesh dates back to the 12th century and has since become an integral part of the nation's culture and society.

Other Major Religions

Although Islam dominates the religious landscape, there is a notable presence of other faiths in Bangladesh. Hinduism, practiced by 10% of the population, stands as the second-largest religion. Buddhism and Christianity also have a small but significant following.

Minor Faiths

Beyond these major religions, a smattering of smaller faith communities exist in Bangladesh. Sikhism, Bahai Faith, and other religions contribute to the country's religious diversity, showcasing the coexistence of different beliefs.
